Chesapeake Homes has a long-standing history in building quality homes for over 30 years across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. While Chesapeake Homes stands out by being an award-winning residential builder who provides affordable, environmentally conscious, and designer-curated homes, we are also very proud of our ability to be open and transparent about what goes into building your dream home and prepare you for the journey ahead.
While building a new home can seem like a daunting task, at Chesapeake Homes we work side by side with you every step of the way to make sure you are taken care of and happy with your new construction home. Below is a breakdown of what the home building Journey with Chesapeake Homes looks like. If you would like more in depth detail check out our Home Builder Guide on our website or give our Online Sales Consultants a call or text to set up an appointment at any of our communities.
The first step is picking one of Chesapeake Homes’ communities and locations you wish to call home. From there the on-site New Homes Specialists will work with you to see which homesite and floorplan is your favorite.
At Chesapeake Homes each of our floorplans has a plethora of options that you can add onto your floorplan to make your home uniquely yours. Once all these choices are made the New Homes Specialist will review the purchase agreement to ensure accuracy and completeness. A pre-qualification letter from your lender is required at this time. (Lucky for you we work with Tidewater Mortgage who can help make the process easy and seamless)
Chesapeake Homes is proud to offer a state-of-the-art Design Gallery where our licensed designers will work with you to create your stunning interior from start to finish.
Your Pre-construction meeting is your opportunity to verify that we have everything right and ready to go. Your community builder will review all aspects of your new home build with you and discuss the site plan, blueprints, and diagrams.
One of the many benefits of building a home from the ground up is being able to watch your new construction go from an empty lot to a beautiful home right before your eyes.
Just before we hang your drywall, you will have an additional meeting with your Community Builder. This is the final chance to verify the locations of electrical and low voltage options in your home. The Community Builder will take you through the home to check those options.
A preliminary timeframe for the Closing Date will be estimated at the time of Purchase Agreement signing. At this point an official date will be given to you including dates and times.
At this point the home is complete and it’s time to take in the joys of the final product. At this time, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of your new home including general maintenance, the function of systems and appliances, the warranty process, and more.
A final review will be completed, and buyers will sign the homeowner orientation and acceptance form.
Enjoy the outcome of this very special experience of getting to build a new construction home from the ground up. Congratulations!
As you can see, building a home is a delicate balance of coordination and flexible timelines. Chesapeake Homes has decades of experience creating and fine tuning this schedule and we are constantly working to improve its accuracy. Our end goal is to provide all buyers with the home of their dreams and to give everyone a special space to build memories.
